**Attendees will attend program meeting in its entirety, including required sign in, in the Zoom chat box, at the beginning of the presentation. Attendees will be asked to respond to presenter questions in the chat box (as indicated) and/or participate in posted polls (as indicated). Attendees will be required to complete the program evaluation, including but not limited to self-assessment, at the end of the course as well as ASHA bubble sheet (as appropriate for individuals seeking ASHA credit), using the posted google form links in the chat box at the end of the program meeting.

Learning Outcomes – Attendees will be able to:
● Define key vocabulary related to the Science of Reading.
● Identify and explain the Five Pillars of Reading: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension.
● Describe the role of the SLP in supporting early reading skills.
● Demonstrate knowledge of early warning signs of reading difficulties, including developmental and sensory considerations.
● Explain how SLPs can collaborate with educators and parents to support early literacy.
Time Ordered Agenda:
(8:00-8:30)- Welcome and announcements, to include introduction of the speaker, overview of the day, and learning objectives.
8:30-10:15- Intro. to the Science of Reading framework and building a shared understanding of reading-related vocabulary.
(10:15-10:30)- Morning Break
10:30-12:00- Deep dive into the Five Pillars of Reading and role of the SLP, speech therapy strategies that align with each pillar, and connecting articulation, language, and literacy skills.
(12:00-1:00)- Lunch on your own
1:00-3:00- Building a collaborative effort with staff and parents: creating strong partnerships with teachers and families, identifying early warning signs of reading challenges, considering vision, hearing, and fine motor development, understanding both language-based and decoding-based reading difficulties.
(3:00-3:15)- Afternoon Break
3:15-4:00- Practical activities to support communication and reading, review of therapy activities, curating tools and ideas that target phonological awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension, and final Q&A and participant reflection.
